Record-breaking HKU Centenary Marathon Team!

We proudly announce that the HKU Centenary Marathon Team has broken the record.

  • 2011 : 2,912
  • 2010 : 2,289
  • 2009 : 2,200
  • 2008 : 2,103
  • 2007 : 1,810
  • 2006 : 1,100

Since 2006, over 5,400 members of the University have joined the Marathon Team. This year, 2,912 HKU runners participated in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon held on February 20, 2011!

For the first time, three HKU female runners - alumnae Dr Angela Leung and Ms Pauline Tse, and postgraduate student Ms Kathleen Waller - were winners in the 10km Challenge (Women)!

A big THANK YOU to the Support Team of 250 students, staff, alumni and runners’ families who cheered for the runners along the various race routes. The therapeutic service provided by the HKU Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Full-time) Alumni Association was, again, most popular!
