Training Course at Stanley Ho Sports Centre

Training course with coach is available for HKU Marathon Team members.

Target: For people who:
- never run before
- never run a race longer than 10K
- want to re-new their basic running skills and knowledge
Objective: - To help those beginners within the HKU Marathon Team to get started with the running sport
- To suggest proper training to guide them in completing their first 10K race.
Course Outline: - Warm up, exercises, cool down
- Basic running skills and knowledge
- Aerobic endurance training
- Speed endurance training
- Sports' nutrition for running
Instructors: A coach team led by a HKAAA certified Athletic Coach from Southern District Long Distance Running Club who also obtained a number of health and fitness certificates from recognized institutions including ACSM and HKPFA. They are also experienced runners and actively participate in promoting long distance running in the community.
 
Registration: - Limited places will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to 10Km beginning runners
- Special Entry Pass will be issued to successful registrants
 

Training Seminars on November 12, 2005

Date: Saturday, November 12, 2005
Time: 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Venue: Rayson Huang Theatre, HKU

For BEGINNERS:
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm Seminar conducted by HKU Institute of Human Performance :

i. The core thing - mileage and basic running technique that carry
runners in a long haul;
ii. The conditioning programme - to enjoy an injuries proof workout;
iii. The right gear.
5:00 pm - 5:45 pm Introduction on running gear by Reebok

For INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED RUNNERS:
4:15 pm Introduction on running gear by Reebok
5:15 pm - 6:30 pm Seminar conducted by HKU Institute of Human Performance:

i. The periodized training
ii. The "mix and match" programme to sharpen the weaknesses.
iii. The recovery
